The Effects of Pilates Mat Exercises on self-rated health Levels, Body Mass Index and Flexibility in Middle Age Sedentary Women

Goal: This study examines the effects of 10-week Pilates Mat exercises on body mass index (BMI), flexibility and self-rated health level in middle aged women. Method: The experimental group comprises female voluntary participants mat exercise program at Akdeniz University Sports Facilities Antalya (n28), control includes sedentary volunteers (n14). members were given 60 minutes 3 days a week for 10 weeks. did not participate any program. Flexibility test, BMI measurements questionnaire about applied to both groups before after exercises. Statistical results obtained using SPSS 21.0 package As showed normal distribution, parametric test Paired Sample T-Test was applied. Since distribution applicable sample volume large enough group, nonparametric Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, used. Findings: There no statistically significant difference values between pretest posttest averages (p>0.05), while statistical significance found levels (p<0.05). is (p>0.05) lower Conclusion: It revealed that regular increase age These indicate substantial method improving performance. should be performed regularly, as they have positive quality life.
